Tracking Stick Figures with Hierarchical Articulated ICP
This paper presents an ICP-based algorithm for tracking an articulated skeletal model of the human body (stick figure) in 3D. The data are 3D points distributed roughly around the limbs’ medial axes. The algorithm fits each stick to a limb in a hierarchical fashion, traversing the body’s kinematic chain, while preserving the connection of the sticks at the joints. Experimental results illustrat...
متن کاملControl of Articulated Figures Animations Using Petri Nets
In this paper we explore the use of Petri Nets as a tool to control the movements of articulated figures in computer animations. This approach permits us to describe the animation sequence by means of the treatment of events present in its execution. An advantage of this method is that the control may be abstracted in different levels, spanning from the definition of the relation among limbs fo...
متن کاملRecovery of 3D Articulated Motion from 2D Correspondences
We present a method for computing the 3D motion of articulated models from 2D correspondences. An iterative batch algorithm is proposed which estimates the maximum aposteriori trajectory based on the 2D measurements subject to a number of constraints. These include (i) kinematic constraints based on a 3D kinematic model, (ii) joint angle limits, (iii) dynamic smoothing and (iv) 3D key frames wh...
متن کاملA Framework for Modeling the Appearance of 3D Articulated Figures
This paper describes a framework for constructing a linear subspace model of image appearance for complex articulated 3D figures such as humans and other animals. A commercial motion capture system provides 3D data that is aligned with images of subjects performing various activities. Portions of a limb’s image appearance are seen from multiple views and for multiple subjects. From these partia...
